3-D Facial Reconstruction of Anthony of Padua on Display

In time to celebrate the feast day of Anthony of Padua, Catholic news agencies revealed the details of a 3-D project that reconstructs the beloved saint’s facial features. Initiated earlier this year, the project involved a team of forensic experts who used the cutting edge 3-D software. 3-D designer Cicero Morales of the University of Sao Paolo, known for his anthropological reconstructions, knew nothing more than the age and gender of the project subject while he worked on the reconstruction. An exhibition of the project and its results will be on display at the Basilica of Anthony of Padua in Rome, June 12–22, 2014.
