St. Scholastica
Scholastica is said to have been Benedict’s twin sister, the child of a nobleman. She has been described as devout from a young age and committed to a life of serving God. Gregory the Great indicated that she was a nun and possibly the leader of a community of women. Scholastica and Benedict were devoted to God and to one another. The two are said to have met once a year to spend a day in discussion and praise.
