Lisa Marie Noetzel is an independent scholar who received a 2009 Kluge Fellow at the Library of Congress. Lisa's research interest is the language contact between Spanish Franciscans and the Timucua, an extinct tribe from northeast and north-central Florida. She is translating into English two bilingual catechisms written in 1612 and 1627 by Friar Francisco Pareja, a sixteenth to seventeenth century missionary among the Timucua.
